Last weekend Plum and I were in the Lake District, around Windermere and in Grizedale Forest.
For at least 10 years I have been dreaming about seeing some of the sculptures in Grizedale Forest after a friend told me about them.
This weekend I saw… a few.
I was hoping for more but at least I can sleep better having found a handful. Some sculptures were very large and impressive and others were small and hidden. Some were partially broken and some may or may not have been sculptures at all (we couldn’t decide!)
The ones we saw were all made of (very weathered) wood. The two pillars were carved from trees that had grown in those locations. Presumably, originally, they had stood amongst all the other trees, but now they protrude into a flat, logged landscape. More arts information can be found at Grizedale Arts.
